The Phase MX is our mixed wheel-size E.P.O. model. With a 29” front wheel paired with a 27.5” rear wheel and 170 mm front / 165 mm rear suspension travel, this setup delivers exceptional versatility. The fast-rolling, bump-absorbing front wheel combined with the agile rear creates a winning combination across all riding disciplines.
The new Phase MX features a revised frame design and the Shimano EP801 drive system with a 630 Wh integrated battery, offering 25% more capacity for longer rides.
The Ride
Confident geometry delivers improved agility and stability. For 2022, both front and rear travel have been increased while maintaining the low centre of gravity Orange is known for. Long travel makes sense on an eMTB, whether climbing with assisted power or descending at speed.
Geometry highlights include a 64° head angle, 76° seat angle, balanced reach (483 mm size L), 165 mm rear travel via a 230 × 65 mm shock, and a reduced-offset 170 mm fork.
The Frame Build
Each iteration refines production techniques to enhance performance and durability. Crafted by highly experienced aluminium specialists, these frames represent some of the finest we’ve ever produced.
Updates include refined motor integration, revised swingarm construction, relocated speed sensor, Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), and revised shock mounts to increase travel and progression while reducing pedal kickback and anti-squat.
The integrated battery is removable using a single 4 mm Allen key. Additional batteries are available, making extended “double battery days” simple and practical.
The Engine – Shimano EP801 Drive Unit
Developed in close collaboration with Shimano, the EP801 improves on every aspect of the previous generation. Compact, powerful and quiet, it delivers intuitive assistance with maximum traction and control.
The refined Trail mode uses the full 85 Nm output as required, adjusting seamlessly to terrain. Reduced drag and improved clutch performance provide a smooth ride above the 25 km/h cutoff.
With the E-Tube Project App, riders can customise torque levels and support profiles across three modes, saving preferences for different riding styles.
